Wade Lowman named Player of the Week after leading team to big victory
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) basketball player Wade Lowman earned Division II Player of the Week honors from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference for his performance Feb. 27-March 5.
Lowman scored 34 points and grabbed 16 rebounds while leading the nationally ranked Challengers to a 104-60 win over conference rival Lakeland Community College. He also contributed three steals, two assists and a blocked shot.
On the season, the freshman forward ranks third in the conference in rebounding and is Tri-C’s second-leading scorer.
Lowman, who is from Philadelphia, is studying accounting at Tri-C.
The Challengers are 27-2 and ranked fifth in the most recent NJCAA Division II national poll. Last week’s victory over Lakeland earned the team a share of the regular season conference championship.
The team enters post-season play as the #2 seed in the NJCAA Region XII (District 11) tournament, earning it a spot in the semifinal. Tri-C will play Owens Community College at 8 p.m. Friday at Ohio Christian University.
