Potential applicants encouraged to attend information session on Saturday, Nov. 7
Take a step toward enrolling in FirstEnergy Corp.’s Power Systems Institute — an award-winning program that trains future utility line workers — by attending an information session Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Metropolitan Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).
The session will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Metro Campus Theater, 2900 Community College Ave. in Cleveland. The training program is seeking applicants for the fall 2016 class.
The Power Systems Institute is a two-year program that combines hands-on utility skills training at a FirstEnergy facility with technical coursework taught in a Tri-C classroom. Program graduates will earn an Associate of Technical Studies degree with a focus on electric power utility technology.
The program is a partnership between Tri-C and The Illuminating Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE).
FirstEnergy originally introduced the PSI in 2000 as a way to help replace retiring line workers. Programs were established at colleges throughout the company’s six-state service area, including Tri-C.
Program openings are limited, and applicants will be assessed through a competitive, multi-step process.
