Run for a Reason: Tri-C’s Autumn Blaze 5K
Three nonprofit agencies benefit from Oct. 15 race and walk at Western Campus
Dash through the fall colors while doing some good this October during the third annual Autumn Blaze 5K or new mile fun walk at the Western Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).
Proceeds from the run/walk will be divided evenly between Greater Cleveland Community Shares, the United Negro College Fund and United Way of Greater Cleveland. Tri-C launched the event in 2015 as part of its annual giving campaign to benefit the community.
Last year’s race raised $10,000 for the nonprofit agencies. This year’s goal is $12,000.
The Autumn Blaze 5K and mile fun walk begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Tri-C’s Western Campus in Parma. Set a personal-best time on the fast and flat course that winds through the campus grounds at 11000 Pleasant Valley Road.
Online registration is available though Hermes Road Racing until 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13. Pre-registration is $20 for community members or $15 for Tri-C students. All pre-registered runners and walkers will receive a T-shirt.
On-site registration also will be available the day of the run and walk beginning at 8 a.m., with the cost being $25 for community members or $20 for Tri-C students. T-shirts for day-of registrants will be available as quantities allow.
Awards in the 5K will be given to the top three overall male and female runners and the top three finishers in the following age groups: 11 and younger; 12-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; and 65 and older.
Post-race refreshments and entertainment will be offered at the finish line, which more than 300 runners and walkers crossed at last year’s race.
