Free program offers tips to leading healthier and more active lives
The Metropolitan Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will teach families how to lead healthier lives during “Food and Fitness Fun Day” on two Saturdays this fall.
The free events will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 12 and Oct. 17 at the Metro Campus Recreation Center, located at the corner of East 30th Street and Community College Avenue in Cleveland.
Dietitians from Tri-C will teach attendees how to make healthy choices at the grocery store to create nutritious, budget-friendly meals. A tour of the nearby Dave’s Market on Payne Avenue will be offered. (A bus will provide transportation.)
In addition, the events will offer fun fitness activities, exercise tips and health screenings, plus tours of the recreation center.
Participants also will prepare and eat a nutritious lunch.
Registration for each day is limited to 30 people, including children age 8 or older accompanied by a parent. Half of the participants will visit the grocery store and receive $20 Dave’s gift cards and a healthy cooking kit. The other half will tour the recreation center and receive a free membership to the facility.
For more information or to register, call 216-987-4417 or go to www.tri-c.edu/fundays.
The events are part of Tri-C’s Family Table Project, which strives to create stronger families that eat, play and stay healthy together. The effort is supported by the Aetna Foundation, a national foundation that supports projects to promote wellness, health and access to high quality health care for everyone.
