PARMA – Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Western Campus, located at 11000 Pleasant Valley Road, will dedicate its Peace Pole on Tuesday, October 27, at noon in the south courtyard.

A Peace Pole is an internationally-recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams for peace on earth. Each Peace Pole bears the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in different languages. This Peace Pole symbolizes the Tri-C mission as the community’s college to create an environment in which peoples of diverse backgrounds can learn and work together as they strive to create a better community and world.

Parma Mayor Dean DiPiero will present the City of Parma Proclamation. Ten students will also translate “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in 10 different languages: English, Swahili, Chinese, Arabic, Romanian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Sanskrit, American Sign Language and Native American.

This program is only one of a series of events being organized to promote a new curriculum in Conflict Management and Peace Studies. Additional events will be scheduled throughout the fall and will be posted on www.tri-c.edu.

Parking is available in designated visitor lots on each Tri-C campus for $1 for a two-hour time block, or a hangtag permit can be purchased for 75 cents.
