HIGHLAND HILLS – Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) student, Holli Stebner of Streetsboro, was recently awarded a $1,500 scholarship by the Northern Ohio Chapter of American Society of Safety Engineers (NOC-ASSE). Stebner is a freshman majoring in environmental, health and safety technology (EHST) at Tri-C’s Eastern Campus.

The NOC-ASSE Scholarship started in 2002 to reward high-achieving EHST students and to support and encourage them to pursue a career in the health & safety field. The scholarship is funded solely through an annual golf outing, from which all profits are dedicated to the scholarships. Each year, NOC-ASSE awards scholarships to college students who attend school or have a primary residence in Northeast Ohio. Students must have completed at least three courses in safety, health and environmental and have a minimum 2.5 grade point average in those courses. This year’s scholarship of $1,500 is the largest award to date.

Tri-C’s environmental, health & safety technology program prepares students for careers in the environmental health and safety field.  The EHST program offers day, evening and web-based distance learning courses, as well as weekend classes and accelerated courses. Additional information about the scholarship, the golf outing and Northern Ohio ASSE in general is available on the NOC-ASSE web site, http://nohio.asse.org/news.php.
