PARMA –Cuyahoga Community College’s Leadership Certification Program returns this year offering free non-credit workshops for students and community members.

Sponsored by the Department of Student Life, this year’s diverse workshop offerings include curriculum from Key Career Place and Counseling. Elective workshops being offered are servant leadership, dress for success, the art of networking, conflict management, decision- making, and diversity.  The core curriculum still includes workshops such as team building/empowering others, time management skills, effective meetings and communication, leadership exploration, and leading with goals.

The recent workshop additions offer more variety to the program in order to further engage students and equip them with valuable leadership skills through workshops, service projects, student club participation, and a three-credit leadership development studies course offered in the spring.

“The foremost purpose for attending college is to gain academic knowledge and workplace skills,” said Dr. Patricia Rowell, Western Campus President. “One of the additional tools that students can add to their toolbox to set them apart is the combination of skills and knowledge called leadership. These are life skills that will give you the edge, increase your confidence, and make you stand out from the crowd. They are part of what can make you successful in life.”

The program features three levels of certification including general certification, advanced certification and League of Distinguished Certified Leaders. "As a leader, you need to develop skills that will motivate others to success. The Leadership Certification Program is a powerful tool used to empower students into leadership thinking. The leadership program provides reassurance that we all can be a leader in life," says Troy Lum, Interim Director of Key Career Place.
