CLEVELAND – With a historical Presidential election on the horizon, the political science department at Cuyahoga Community College’s Metro Campus is presenting a series of voting seminars on Smart TV during October and November. Through lively conversation and interactive discussion with local politicians, The League of Women Voters, and the ACLU, viewers will be well-informed when they go to the polls.
The one-hour programs will provide viewers with substantive information on local, state, and federal elections that they can take with them into the voting booth. In addition, voters will better understand the issues that have a profound effect on their lives and be able to objectively evaluate the performance of their elected officials on those issues. After the election, viewers will hear analysis of the results and what changes they can reasonably expect from the new slate of politicians the public has empowered.
This programming can be viewed on Smart TV, which is broadcast on Time Warner Cable digital channel 195 in Cleveland, and channel 216 on Cox Digital Cable. Smart TV also video streams all of its programming on its Web site at www.tri-c.edu/distancelearning/smarttv . The community (space is limited to 20 seats) is encouraged to be part of our studio audience at the Metro Campus Media Center. The seminars are scheduled on the following dates:
Tuesday, Oct. 14 7 p.m. What do I need to know to be an informed voter this election?
Tuesday, Oct. 21 7 p.m. What is at stake for this presidential election?
Tuesday, Oct. 28 7 p.m. What is the government doing about the issues that matter most to me?
Tuesday, Nov. 18 7 p.m. Debriefing after the election: What happened and what can I expect?
