Joshua’s Jam—the second annual musical tribute celebrating the life of fallen Army Corporal Joshua Scott Harmon—will take place on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at La Vera Party Center, 32200 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills.
The event, presented in partnership with the Harmon family, honors Joshua’s love of children, music, medicine and service. Proceeds from the event will provide scholarships for students at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C). This year, the importance of scholarships for Tri-C students has reached a new peak. Tri-C is experiencing its largest enrollment ever, with more than 30,000 students taking classes during the fall semester. As attendance increases, so does the need for scholarships.
“This event is a perfect partnership for Tri-C,” explains Rick DeChant, Executive Director, Veterans Services and Programs. “Tri-C is deeply committed to our region’s veterans and, of course, to promoting student success at Tri-C. We are honored to be working with the Harmon family to pay tribute to the life and sacrifice of their son with an event that will help many of our students achieve their own dreams.”
Army Corporal Joshua Scott Harmon died on August 22, 2007 in a Blackhawk helicopter crash while returning from a mission in Northern Iraq. A 2005 graduate of Mentor High School, Harmon joined the Army in 2005 as a medical specialist.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with family-style dinner beginning at 7:30 p.m. Live musical entertainment will be on hand throughout the evening, featuring something for every musical taste.
