Financial Assistance
Cuyahoga Community College maintains a full-service Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Office on each campus. This office is dedicated to helping students navigate financial aid options for paying for their college expenses. Students can meet with a Student Financial Aid Advisor to obtain information about various financial aid options, which includes grants, scholarships, and student loans.

Student Resource

Computers are available on each campus that students may use to apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and search other financial aid resources. Financial Aid staff and Student Ambassadors are available during office hours to help students complete the FAFSA.

For additional information or to join us for a 1213 FAFSA Workshop or 1314 FAFSA Workshop, please contact the Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Office.

  Important Information:

Important Reminders- Don't miss the financial aid and scholarships deadline!

May 1, 2013 is the priority deadline to submit the Tri-C Foundation Scholarship Application for the Fall 2013 Semester.

June 1, 2013 is the priority deadline to submit your 2013-2014 FAFSA for the Fall 2013 Semester.

Impact of Federal Sequestration on Financial Aid at Cuyahoga Community College:
On August 2, 2011, Congress passed the Budget Control Act (BCA) of 2011, which put into place an automatic process of "across-the-board" Federal budget cuts, known as the sequester, to take effect if Congress failed to enact legislation to reduce the Federal deficit.  Unless Congress had taken action by March 1, 2013, these budgets cuts will go into effect.  Congress has failed to act; therefore, the following federal financial aid changes may take effect.
  • Federal Pell Grant: No impact at this time.  A planned increase in the annual Pell Grant award, up to $5,645 will take place for the 2013-2014 academic year.
  • Federal Work-Study Program and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program: Funding may be reduced for the 2013-2014 academic year, which includes the Fall 2013, Spring 2014, and Summer 2014 semesters.  A direct student impact is unknown, at this time; however we continue to encourage students to apply by the priority deadlines to be considered for limited funding programs.
  • Federal Direct Loan Programs: Direct Loan Origination Fees will be increased for Direct Subsidized and Direct Unsubsidized Loans and for Direct PLUS Loans. The increase is effective March 1, 2013 for loans in which the first disbursement of the loan takes place after the sequester takes effect.
    • Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loan fees: currently 1.0% of loan. We anticipate the loan fee to increase to 1.05%. (For example, the loan fee for a $5,500 loan will increase from $55.00 to $57.75, an increase of $2.75.
    • Direct PLUS Loans fees for parents and graduate students: currently 4.0% and we anticipate the loan fee to increase to 4.20%.  (For example: on a $10,000 Direct PLUS loan the fee would go from $400 to $420, an increase of $20.)

As we learn additional information regarding the sequestration and its impact on federal financial aid at Cuyahoga Community College we will update this page.

Financial Aid Basics

When it comes to paying for school, you need to know your options. We have a series of financial aid videos provided by Financial Aid TV. After learning about financial aid options, students should make careful decisions about financial aid that you may qualify to receive to help pay for your educational expenses. Students may make an appointment to meet with a Financial Aid Advisor to learn about financial aid and scholarships available for Tri-C students.

Educational expenses may include tuition, fees, books, transportation, housing, and miscellaneous expenses. Students who may have additional expenses related to their attendance and educational costs may seek more information in the Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Office.
