Rustem HayroudinoffDescribed by London's Classic FM Magazine as a "sensationally gifted" musician of "stunning artistry", Rustem Hayroudinoff graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied with Lev Naumov, and received his postgraduate degree (DipRAM) at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Christopher Elton.

Hayroudinoff has performed to great critical acclaim in Japan, his native Russia and Europe. In the UK he has appeared in major concert venues including St. John's Smith Square, the Barbican, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Wigmore Hall.  His recital in Chicago was televised and simultaneously broadcast live by over 300 radio stations across the United States.

What a performance this was, demonstrating the emotional range of this wonderful work, full of mercurial brilliance, impassioned melody and breathtaking virtuosity." He also appeared in the documentary "The Unknown Shostakovich" alongside Vladimir Ashkenazy, Valery Gergiev and Maxim Shostakovich.

Join Tri-C for the 33rd annual birthday observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with a celebration featuring a full length thematic dance production with a performance by Nadanta titled Ahimsa – the Path of Peace and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra.

Nadanta is an award-winning dance group that has performed in several international cities including Moscow, Leningrad, Copenhagen and Sydney as well as Spain and Indonesia. Ahimsa is an original thematic dance presentation choreographed by Nadanta’s award-winning artistic director Chaula Thacker. The performance is a tribute to the legendary figures of nonviolence, Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and a re-affirmation of the critical role of nonviolence as a peaceful alternative in an increasingly chaotic and violent world.

Ahimsa utilizes Indian dance, music and a dialog between two fictional characters, Himsa and Ahimsa to highlight the conflict between violence and nonviolence. The production includes performers from many different ethnic heritages all combining their talents to deliver the message of nonviolence embodied in Thacker’s unique and powerful choreography.

The Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra, in its 72nd concert season, is under the leadership of Music Director Victor H. Liva.

Bill T. Jones

Continuing on his legacy of challenging, thought provoking work, Tony Award winner Bill T. Jones presents a new, evening-length piece inspired by the life of Abraham Lincoln, celebrating the slain president’s 2009 bicentennial.  Commissioned by the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois, Fondly Do We Hope . . . Fervently Do We Pray explores the choreographer’s view of Lincoln while growing up during the civil rights struggle of the 1960’s and envisions the America that might have been had the president lived to complete the Reconstruction.  This dance theater work investigates the myriad meanings of Lincoln and his legacy, while heralding the lasting contributions of an American icon.
