COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAMS
FAITH-BASED COMMUNITY INITIATIVE
Cuyahoga Community College’s Faith-Based Initiative was established in response to President George W. Bush’s executive orders creating the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI). "The president’s goal was to eliminate government barriers inhibiting partnerships with faith-based and grassroots charities and to strengthen the work of America’s armies of compassion in tackling society’s toughest problems." The Initiative is now incorporated across virtually every Federal effort to address human needs by making grant programs and other opportunities more accessible to new faith-based and community partners.
President Obama signed an executive order creating the White House Office on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. The President plans to expand and refocus the faith-based office founded by former President George Bush.
Mission:
To provide education and training opportunities through career pathways that will address basic literacy needs such as GED attainment, basic skills enhancement, connections to one and two year college programs, in demand short-term technical skills training and employment assistance to community affiliates and its members.
The Faith-Based Initiative partners with a variety of leaders to improve the quality of life of the citizens of North East Ohio by offering continuous education/training and employment assistance.
Services Include:
ABLE/GED classes offered at faith-based and community facilities
- Short-term and degree training
- One-on-one advising sessions
- Employment assistance
Access to Regional Job Readiness Training Academy services which are designed to prepare individuals to obtain, maintain, and advance in their careers. Some topics include:

- Stress Management
- Teamwork
