State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
This state-approved 108 hour training program which includes 16 hours of clinical experience, prepares students for employment in long-term care facilities, hospitals, clinics and home health agencies. Upon completion of the training, participants are eligible to take the competency exam to become State-Tested Nursing Assistants.

Recommended for STNA Students This American Heart Association course covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rescue techniques for choking. Skills are practiced on infant, child, and adult mannequins. An introduction to the automated external defibrillator(AED)will also be provided. Who should attend? Anyone who wants confidence in their ability to assist a loved one in distress, as well as, "lay rescuers," those who are expected to respond to emergencies in the workplace. Practice skills in this small group environment. Each student who successfully completes the skills performance will receive a course completion card. This course meets the requirements for most State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNAs)working in long-term care facilities.
State Tested Nurse Assistant Exam Preparation Course

Do you need to re-acquaint yourself with skills necessary to successfully pass the Ohio Nurse Aide Competency Exam? This course is designed for students who meet the eligibility requirements to apply for the State Exam and would like to refresh those skills before taking the test. This course can also benefit students who have taken and failed the exam who wish to practice skills or review material before re-taking the exam for achievement. Topics include: NATCEP Overview; role of the Nurse Aide; promotion of health and safety; promotion of function and health of Residents; basic nursing skills; specialized Care; transferring and positioning; and vest restraints. Online pre-testing practice available.

Our 32-hour Train-the- Trainer program is designed to prepare nurses to teach and/or coordinate an ODH state approved nurse assistant training competency and evaluation program (NATCEP). Two opportunities are offered; certification as either a Primary Instructor (PI) or a Program Coordinator (PC).
