Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  I'd like to review the questions before I start the application.  Is a printed copy of the online application available?

A:  No.  However, the information requested is similar to our mail-in application, which can be downloaded.

Q: Is my information secure?

A: Your data is encrypted before it is transmitted to us using secure sockets layer (SSL) encryption technology.  Look for the key icon in Netscape or the lock icon in Internet Explorer to check this.  However, to guarantee the security of your application data, it is equally important that you protect the confidentiality of your PIN and Password.  Anyone with access to this information can access your application file.

Q: Why do I need to supply my social security number?

A: Tri-C is required to collect social security numbers for credit students to comply with Federal and state requirements.   Once you have been admitted as a student, a Tri-C ID number will be generated.  This number begins with the letter "S" followed by eight randomly generated numbers.  You will use this ID to register for classes and access your grades and other student information.

Q: Does my data get saved when I move to a different screen?

A: Yes.  If you don't want to save your information click the "Return to Checklist without saving changes" link on the bottom of the screen.

Q: I changed my mind about my field of study after submitting my application and also gave the wrong telephone number.  What should I do?

A. Do not submit another application.  After your application has been processed, contact the Office of Admissions and Records  to correct your information.  After you receive your Tri-C ID number you can use our my Tri-C space system to view and update your information.

Q: Can I print my completed application?

A: There is no function available to format the information and print it in one document.  You may be able to print each screen by using the browser's print command.

Q: How soon after applying can I register for classes?

A: Generally, allow five business days for your application to be processed.  You will be notified by regular mail when you've been accepted.

Q: Who do I contact if I have questions about the application or have a problem completing it?

A: Contact the Office of Admissions and Records  on your campus.

Q: How will I know the status of my application?

A: Allow five business days processing time. You will be notified by regular mail after you have been admitted.
