It wasn’t difficult for Allison Tryk to find Cuyahoga Community College. Her mother is a Tri-C professor, so both Tryk and her sister were eager to take classes at the College. Tryk attended the Western Campus, where one of the most important and valuable classes she ever took was typing, which she describes as absolutely essential. Tryk also enrolled in world history courses, which inspired her to travel extensively, providing an amazing experience. She also enrolled in psychology classes but, ultimately, studied business. She graduated with her Associate of Arts degree in 1999.
Tri-C gave Tryk the initial desire to continue her education and transfer to a four-year school. She went on to study at the University of San Francisco, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, with a major in international business, and San Francisco State University, where she is currently working on her MBA.
Professionally,Tryk went on to create her own retail company, EarthLust, which she recently sold, and is now the National Sales Director for a start-up company. As a result of the good press she received from her previous company, Tryk was able to get her products featured on Good Morning America and in many magazines, including Lucky and Real Simple. In addition, she was interviewed by San Francisco Gate and has appeared on various panels and webinars regarding retail.
Looking back,Tryk credits much of her success to the educational foundation she received at Cuyahoga Community College. She says “Tri-C is a fantastic launching pad for an exciting career of any kind!”
