Tri-C professor to moderate drug abuse panel discussion

Cuyahoga Community College sociology professor Valerie Brown will moderate a panel discussion on drug abuse this evening.
The discussion, titled “Heroin, Fentanyl, Carfentanyl: The Triple Threat on Our Doorstep,” is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. at the Lyndhurst Community Center, 1341 Parkview Drive. Panelists will examine the effect that these and other opiates and opioids are having on the illegal drug trade, and the human toll on those who become addicted.
The panelists scheduled to appear include:
Vince Caraffi, Cuyahoga County Board of Health
Detective Mike Scipione, SPAN Drug Enforcement Unit
Dr. Thomas Gilson, Cuyahoga County medical examiner
Dr. James Sauto, emergency medical physician at the Cleveland Clinic
Eugenia Cash, Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board
