Tri-C's Health Information Technology (HIT)

The HIT grant funded program ended March 2013.
Tri-C will continue to offer HIT classes in the near future.

In April 2010, Health and Human Services Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT awarded $ 14.7 million dollars to Cuyahoga Community College under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Award # 90CC007901. The funding supported the collaboration of 17 innovative community colleges across Region C, forming the Midwest Community College Health Information Technology Consortium.

During the grant period ending March 2013, Cuyahoga Community College trained 1,076 students in the HIT program.

Graduates from the program received non-degree certificates verifying that they completed the necessary training.  Students who completed the program are eligible to take the HIT Pro exam and those who pass and agree to AHIMA’s statement of understanding will be authorized to use the HIT Pro credential(s).

Although our grant period has concluded, the need for qualified Health IT professionals continues to grow. A recent study by PWc indicated that top healthcare executives are concerned about finding talent to help meet their health IT workforce needs. Cuyahoga Community College is in the process of sustaining out workforce development activities to support Health IT adoption and implementation across the country.

If you are interested in learning more about the HIT program at Cuyahoga Community College, please complete the inquiry form.

We anticipate our program beginning summer semester.  As more information unfolds, we will continue to update our website.
