Description: This program will take an in-depth look at the Medicine Section of the CPT-4 manual. It will include a brief look at some invasive coding procedures such as immunizations and vaccinations. Emphasis will be placed on non-invasive diagnostic testing in many areas of general and specialized medicine.
Prerequisites:
Topics Covered: 1. CPT Medicine Section Guidelines
2. Coding immunizations and vaccinations, allergy testing, dialysis, and other therapeutic diagnostic and prophylactic treatments
3. Coding testing and treatments in areas of psychiatry, ophthalmology, ENT, cardiology, pulmonary, neurology, medical nutrition and others
4. Coding non-physician related treatments and patient education related items
Learning Outcomes: The participant will:
1.Become familiar with non-surgical general medicine coding
2.Gain an understanding of the difference between therapeutic, diagnostic and prophylactic treatments
3.Accurately assign codes from the Medicine Section of the CPT Manual.
