ZHTH1195: ZHTH-1195: Local Anesthesia and Pain Management for the Registered Dental Hygienist

Description: Using lecture, laboratory and clinical format, you will obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to administer local anesthesia. This course has been approved by the Ohio State Dental Board. To fulfill OSDB requirements, attendance at all sessions is mandatory.

Learning Outcomes: Identify and assemble armamentarium necessary for administration of local anesthesia; Locate hard and soft tissue landmarks associated with administration of local anesthetic agents; Evaluate patients prior to administering local anesthetic agents; Describe and manage local and systemic complications associated with receiving local anesthetic agents; Calculate maximum dosages of local anesthetic agents; Safely and effectively administer local anesthetic agents.

Comments: Local Anesthesia Administration by Registered Dental Hygienists in Ohio is permissible after course completion and passing the NERB Local Anesthesia Examination.
