Description: Study of basic structure and properties of materials related to opticianry. Includes structure, density, conductivity, and effects of mechanical forces on materials. Special emphasis to nature and theory of light and application to ophthalmic optics. Demonstrations by use of optical bench, blackboard optics, and other instruments used to facilitate understanding of how light functions.
Prerequisites: MATH-1060 Survey of Mathematics.
