Description: Capstone course in Pharmacy Technology. Current topics and changes in practice of pharmacy detailed. Among topics discussed: current advances in medications, changing role of pharmacist and pharmacy technician, review of pharmaceutical calculations, substance abuse, biotechnology, AIDS and other communicable diseases, current health issues facing men, women and children of diverse cultures, drug approval process, critical thinking and problem solving in pharmacy practice, consumer awareness of natural products including current information on herbal products, medication errors, and current status of automation in pharmacy.
Prerequisites: PHM-1350 Pharmacy Practice I, PHM-1860 Pharmacy Technology Practicum I, and departmental approval.
