Description: Study of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) laws and regulations which protect our environment and health. Students learn steps in managing hazardous wastes including production, treatment, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials. Involves reading, interpreting, and summarizing sections from the Code of Federal Regulations and The United States Code. Coverage includes: National Environmental Policy Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Safe Drinking Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Comprehensive Environmental, Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to Know Act and related toxic laws. Provides overview of roles of judicial and legislative agencies. Modular courses EHST-131A and EHST-131B together will also meet degree requirements for this course.
